Course Dates For Asbestos Removal Supervisor Training

Supervise Asbestos Removal Training Course

All persons conducting a business in asbestos removal requires an Asbestos Removal Supervisor.

  • Class A – Friable – Supervisor needs to be onsite
  • Class B – Non Friable – Supervisor needs to be available within 20 minutes

The Asbestos Removal Supervisor’s name must be registered with SafeWork NSW on your license. These people are known as the nominated supervisor and are the only people allowed to supervise work on your license.   If you do not get accredited by a SafeWork accredited Asbestos training RTO, your accreditation will not be accepted by SafeWork NSW.  To see who is approved, click here.

CPCCDE4008 Supervise Asbestos Removal

The “Statement of Attainment” is issued by RTO Safety Training RTO#40992

Pre-requisite Units of Competency

  1. CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry OR CPCCOHS1001 – Work safely in the construction industry  – if you participated in white card training after September 2009 then these unit of competency would have been issued to you, but not if you trained before that date.  CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is the later unit now being issued and is also the pre-requisite unit for asbestos training. If you are unable to produce this on the course date we will ask you to reschedule.
  2. Hold either a Statement of Attainment in CPCCDE3014A Remove non friable asbestos or CPCCDE3015A Remove friable asbestos and present on the day of training. You will have to reschedule if you do not have either of these qualifications.
  3. You will need to provide the trainer with 100 points of ID prior to commencement of the training.  MUST BE ORIGINALS. COPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED – Some documents you can use to provide this can include:
    • Your passport, either Australian or International
    • Australian birth certificate
    • Australian drivers licence
    • Medicare card
    • ATM card
    • utilities bill
  4. Failure to produce 100 points of identification with original documents will result in you being asked to leave immediately – you must have them prior to course commencement

The cost of this course is $325 GST FREE

Asbestos Exposure

At no time during training will anyone be exposed to asbestos.

WorkCover Requirements

Experience required for a class A asbestos removal licence

Each nominated supervisor and, if the individual applicant is also the supervisor, then the applicant must have at least three years relevant industry experience in the removal of friable asbestos. (Clauses 493(1)(d) and 493(2) of the WHS Regulation).

WorkCover requires such experience to be demonstrated by submitting, with the application form, a description of the work undertaken over a three year period (at least) which is supported by references relevant to the three year period. For example, references from employers/licence holders or supervisors who are nominated supervisors for friable asbestos licence holders. Only required for new applications.

Competencies required for class A asbestos removal licence

Each nominated supervisor and, if the applicant is also the supervisor, then the applicant must submit, with their application form, a copy of the certification that evidences the successful completion of the vocational education and training (VET) course for supervise asbestos removal – CPCCDE4008. Only required for new applications.

(Clauses 493(1)(c) and 494(2) of the WHS Regulation).

Experience required for a class B asbestos removal licence

Each nominated supervisor and, if the individual applicant is also the supervisor, then the applicant must have at least 12 months industry experience in the removal of non-friable asbestos. (Clauses 494(1)(d) and 494(2) of the WHS Regulation.

WorkCover requires experience to be demonstrated by submitting, with the application form, a description of the work undertaken over a 12 month period (at least) which is supported by references relevant to the 12 month period. For example, references from the employer/licence holder or supervisors who are nominated supervisor for non-friable asbestos work. Only required for new applications.

Competencies required for a class B asbestos removal licence

Each nominated supervisor and, if the individual applicant is also the supervisor, then the applicant must submit, with their application form, a copy of the certification that evidences the successful completion of the VET course for supervise asbestos removal – CPCCDE4008. (Clauses(1)(c) and 494(2) of the WHS Regulation).
